WEEK 1 - COURSE INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Creative Work:  Photography  ART141

There are 2 sections for this course:   Section 1  =  Friday 13:00 ~ 16:00
                                                           Section 2  =  Tuesday/Thursday  14:30 ~ 16:00

This course should be informative and fun.  It will be a mix of lecture and practical work.  So you will be producing original work that will be graded on how well it demonstrates your understanding of the assignments and for its technical and artistic quality.

You will need access to a camera in order to complete the work for this course.  A digital SLR camera is the preferred camera for this class, but a high end "point-and-shoot" camera will be sufficient.  A cellphone with a camera or ipad camera will not be sufficient to complete all the assignments, so if you are using a phone or ipad you will want to borrow or share a better camera for the purpose of completing those assignments which require a better camera.  A better camera will be able to produce higher quality images than a cellphone camera, so if you want to get higher grades, you should try to find a camera to use that will produce the higher quality images.

You should check this blog for information about what will be covered in class and for homework.

Submitting Homework:

Homework should be submitted to me via my email:   scotteatonwsu@gmail.com

Email and Photograph Labeling Formats:

•  Your homework MUST have the following format in the "subject line" of the email:
     (section #)(name)(homework title)
     Example:      1 Lee MyeongBok Introduction
                          2 Kim Jeong Eun Introduction

•   All photographs submitted for homework MUST have the following label format:
    (section #)(name)(homework title)
    Example:      1_JamesSmith_self.jpg
                         2_AliceJones_self.jpg
IMPORTANT:   Be sure to keep the file type (  .jpg  )  tag at the end of the photograph label, because that is necessary to view the photo.

There are too many students for me to take the time to relabel of sort your emails...  So labeling is VERY IMPORTANT.  Please, take special care to label your emails and photographs properly.

Homework and Participation will be graded in 2 ways:   completed/not completed    or   1 - 5 points (1 = "poor" and 5 = "excellent")

Homework and other assignments should be turned in on time.  Late work will be graded lower.

** Your homework MUST be produced by you.  Using another person's work is not acceptable.

** Your homework MUST be new work that you produced specifically for the assignment.  Old works are not acceptable, unless otherwise noted.  (Work for the Final Portfolio should consist of work created during this semester)
